In January 2018, the Downtown Estacada Commission was formed under the City of Estacada, and many of the economic development activities of the EDA (Estacada Development Association) fell under the new organization structure. It also lent stability to the organization, and created the opportunity for more growth in revitalization projects, businesses, jobs, plus community events such as Estacada Uncorked, Harvest Festival, and the Holiday Tree Lighting.
The new commission structure also encourages greater cooperation between the Commission’s highly successful membership in the Oregon Main Street program. They recently issued word that now Estacada is the smallest community in Oregon (under 5,000 residents) to be honored as a Performing Main Street community. For more than 10 years, the Estacada Development Association served downtown Estacada businesses and the community by promoting events, activities, façade improvements and much more. The EDA still exists as a Friends of Main Street 501 (c) (3) organization and a medium for grant applications.
